Hello again Chums,
You may have noticed that I have been posting a lot more then usual lately, and that is because I am on part of a holiday from being on an even greater holiday, i.e travelling the world. I have also been trying to post more then I usually would because in a couple of days there is a chance I won't have internet for a week, so I am trying to get as up to date as possible before that happens.
Now that's out of the way, I am free to tell you about our stay in Dubrovnik.
We arrived late one night after taking a ferry from Hvar to Split and then a bus down to Dubrovnik, on one of the windiest bus trips I've been on, where the bus driver was texting his way through the mountains and bends of the road. Not good. We got to our pension, which was right opposite the bus stop and settled in for the night.

We had planned for two nights in Croatia before heading to Bosnia for a couple of nights, as we had heard it was a really awesome place to visit, and something completely different from anything else we would see on this trip.
We got up in the morning to a sky that wasn't exactly blue, and decided to catch the bus into the centre of town because we didn't know the way on foot. By the time we got on the bus it had started to rain. When we reached the centre of Dubrovnik, it was positively pouring, so we decided to wait it out, finding a pharmacy that sold Umbrellas and going to the information centre, and then to the supermarket. But it was still pouring when we came outside, and people were now filming cars trying to drive through the rain and water on the road. We gave up and caught a bus back to our pension, where we got dry clothes and went to the little restaurant just down the street.
Later that day in the early evening we walked back into the city centre and walked around the walled city of Dubrovnik.
We explored and walked around the city, eating yummy icecream and trying not to kick the soccer ball with the local kids, as I am crap at it and tend to kick it in the opposite direction of where it is intended to go.
Nuns sitting on the steps outside a church inside the old city
This was the sign on our bathroom door
Look how amazingly blue the water is...
The next morning we went and bought a bus ticket to Mostar in Bosnia, where we were planning on staying for a couple of nights before heading up to the capital, Sarajevo. Having until 3 o'clock we walked back into the centre and explored a bit more. I had another icecream as the first one was oh so good, and we sat in the sun and people watched to our hearts content.
We waited for our bus, eating and lounging on our massive packs at the bus station, not the most glamorous way of travel, but I think we'd accepted that this was not a trip of lavish luxury quite some time ago.
Our bus was nearly an hour late and by the time it got to the station I had pretty much eaten all my food for the journey so that was good.
We then got on the bus and sat watching the world go by. I had a minor freak out for a second when we arrived and I realised that I was starting my experience in a partially muslim country in a pair of shorts, and we were arriving quite late at night and we hadn't booked a hostel because in the Balkins people always stand outside the bus station and take you home to their place. But as usual it was fine, and we found a really nice lady who gave us a cheaper rate. Perfect. But Mostar is for another time.
Hope you enjoyed that.
Cheerio for now Chums
Love Katie G xx
